With this in mind, why don't we re-hire Eric Swanson to do the job managers are supposed to do — manage. It would save a lot of time and expense (search fees, et al.). It would seem the "disgruntled six" have had their say, right or wrong. So let's get on with it and re-hire Eric Swanson and move forward. Thanks Mayor Gary! Bob Higgins Medford A grim fairy tale Suppose a neighbor (foreign country resident) wants to raise marijuana to ship overseas. A larger water pipe is needed. The new line will run through your yard. You say, “No,” but eminent domain will be used. You ask, “How can eminent domain be used to: do something with no benefit to your city; only make money for a foreign country; and potentially pollute air with marijuana smell?” Sound preposterous? That is exactly what the No LNG movement is about. A second Canadian company will ship Canadian gas through a 232-mile pipeline from Malin to Coos Bay. There gas will be converted to liquid (LNG) at a facility, becoming Oregonʼs second biggest air polluter. Then the LNG is shipped to Asia. Oregon gets nothing except some temporary construction jobs and a very few highly technical permanent jobs. The 36-inch pipeline crosses over or under 400 rivers and streams, and through forests, creating a pollution and fire danger. The pipeline crosses 700 private properties, subject to eminent domain, meaning owners canʼt say no. This proposal is for Oregon because California, Washington and Canada have said no to such exports. Please write our governor and say "No LNG in Oregon." Tom Everitt Shady Cove What 'prowler'? Why does the Mail Tribune and the Daily Courier continue to refer to the homicide on West Park in Grants Pass as a “prowler” incident? The type of call upon which police are dispatched more often than not ends up being another type of circumstances altogether. From what little information the police have given out, this can just as accurately (and maybe more so) be called a home invasion; it's pretty obvious the deceased wasn’t just engaged in peeking under window blinds. Joe Ward Shady Cove Meaning is clear After reading the article, "Eagle Point district violated teachers' rights" in Saturday's newspaper, my comment is: It seems like those in authority positions can say, or tell, the "underlings" anything they want to. Forgive my plain speech, but sometimes the meaning is clear. The "cop" (security officer) who told the student not to park got his instructions from someone of authority. The reason we have courts and judges like U.S. District Judge Michael McShane is to "keep in line" those who think they can boss everyone else around. Who the heck are those authority figures? Who do they think they are? God? Give me a break! I live in Medford. I recall the teacher strike, and I spoke to some teachers at Medford high schools during their strike. They told me the whole point of the strike was some power struggle, because, they said, "to see who wins." I don't recall the names of the school board or the director, but the principle is the same as with Eagle Point School District. Is this about "winning?" The truth needs to come out. Those in the wrong need to eat some humble pie, fess up to their wrongs, and make this whole dispute go away. John W.
