For many years this favored spot along Rogue river between Bybee bridge and Tolo, has been picnic grounds for parties which have enjoyed the fishing and comfort of its shady, cool nooks. Until now, however, it has been with extreme difficulty that automobile parties have been able to reach it, due to the poor roads and to the necessity of trespassing over private property. The county court realizing this fact and noting the difficulty of travel and observing the necessity of such a thoroughfare, not only for the pleasure seeking parties, but also a means for the farmer to more easily market his produce, has built a first class road which is now open for travel. By turning to the north on the road just across the Central Point bridge and keeping on the main road parties will be able to reach the high banks in a half hour from Medford. LOCAL AND PERSONAL The commercial fishing season opened Wednesday night with seven boats out. A catch of 1000 pounds was reported, high catch being made by Frank Oldenberg's boat, which brought in 262 pounds. The fish are sent to Portland, where they bring eight cents a pound—Grants Pass Courier. Beginning June 1st the Nash Cafeteria will run a regular delicatessen in connection with the place, homemade pies, cakes, cookies, doughnuts, salads, roasts, roast chickens, fried chicken, boiled ham will be prepared for picnic parties by phoning orders ahead. Don't cook at home in hot weather, but get things ready prepared. Owners of copper cable, wire, etc., are warned to keep it under cover as there is a systematic gang of junk thieves working throughout the Pacific coast, and no piece of copper is too big or too small for them to steal.
