Crash kills Rogue River woman Photo courtesy OSP Saturday Aug 20, 2016 at 12:27 PM Aug 20, 2016 at 12:27 PM One woman is dead after an early morning crash near Rogue River Saturday. Barbara Jean Holland-Morrow, 52, of Rogue River, was driving south on Highway 99 in her 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport SUV when the vehicle left the roadway and went down a steep embankment about 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Holland-Morrow was the vehicle's sole occupant, and wore a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to an Oregon State Police release. Preliminary investigation shows that the SUV first left the roadway onto the right shoulder, then veered left, crossing both southbound and northbound lanes before heading down the embankment near milepost 7.5 within Jackson County and crashing into a tree, the release says. The cause of the crash is unknown, according to Capt. Bill Fugate with OSP. Further investigation and an autopsy will help determine whether alcohol or driver fatigue were factors in the crash, Fugate said.
