Sowell, lodged in the Jackson County Jail Feb. 2 to await transport to a state prison to serve a 15-month sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm, was charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer and four counts of harassment Thursday after an assault at the jail. He remained in jail Thursday night without bail. Animal abuse — Adam Laird Putnam, 37, of the 500 block of South Platt Place, Eagle Point. Eagle Point police arrested Putnam late Wednesday on a charge of aggravated first-degree animal abuse. He was lodged in jail, where he remained Thursday night on $10,000 bail. Theft — Michael Joseph Browell, 42, of Grants Pass. Medford police arrested Browell Thursday on charges of first-degree theft and probation violation. He was lodged in jail, where he remained Thursday night without bail. Sex offender — Ruby Marlene Johnson, 44, no address listed. Medford police arrested Johnson on charges of failure to register her address as a sex offender and parole violation. She was lodged in jail without bail. Sexual abuse — Gregory Patrick Borella, 38, of the 400 block of Flower Street, Medford. Medford police arrested Borella Thursday on five counts of first-degree sexual abuse. He was lodged in jail, where he remained Thursday night on $5 million bail. Eluding — William Dewitt Chamberlin Jr., 32, of the 300 block of Park Drive, Shady Cove. Shady Cove police arrested Chamberlin Thursday on charges of attempting to elude police in a vehicle and on foot, driving with a suspended license and probation violation. He was lodged in jail, where he remained Thursday night without bail. Advertisement Drugs — Moses Jerome Vasquez, 23, of the 600 block of Brentwood Drive, Eagle Point. The Jackson County Narcotics Enforcement Team arrested Vasquez Thursday on a federal charge of delivery of amphetamines. He was lodged in jail, where he remained Thursday night. Drugs — Ricardo Regalado Garcia, 39, no address listed. A Jackson County sheriff’s deputy arrested Garcia Thursday on charges of possessing amphetamines, driving with a suspended license, providing false information about a vehicle, failing to display an operator’s license and two warrants charging him with failure to appear on drug charges. He was lodged in jail, where he remained Thursday night on $129,000 bail. Drugs — Theron Daniel Wharton II, 24, of the 11400 block of Upper Applegate Road, Jacksonville. Wharton appeared in Jackson County Circuit Court Thursday on an indictment charging him with possession of amphetamines. He was booked into jail and released. Crime reports Theft — 1200 block of Highway 238, Jacksonville. A Jackson County sheriff’s deputy took a report Wednesday of a theft of a dirt bike and riding gear valued at $1,100. Vandalism — 2200 block of Garden Grove, White City. A sheriff’s deputy took a report Thursday of $1,300 worth of vandalism to concrete at a construction site. Theft — 2500 block of Johns Peak Road, Central Point. A deputy took a report Thursday of a theft of a 2004 Yamaha four-wheeler.
