Daily Tidings publisher takes California job The Associated Press ASHLAND - The publisher of the Ashland Daily Tidings announced his departure Friday to take a similar position at a Central California newspaper. Mike Thorpe will take over the publisher's duties at the Turlock Journal, a 6,000-circulation enterprise of the Pacific Sierra Publishing group. "We're excited at the new prospect," Thorpe said. "It's a good move for us. We've enjoyed our time in Ashland, and made a lot of friends. I'm sad to leave the Tidings; it has an excellent group of employees and I wish them all well." Thorpe became publisher of the Tidings, which has a circulation of about 5,100, March 15, 1999. May 16 will be his final day there. The Tidings' parent company, Lee Enterprises, is looking for a replacement.
