Feb. 12, 1916 PLEASED WITH REPLIES TO CHILDRENS' LETTERS The school pupils and their parents of this city are greatly pleased with the replies elicited by the letters sent from Medford during the recent letter-writing week, fully 1,250 having gone from this city from the pupils alone. A quotation is here made from a letter received by little Miss Irene Bernard, 11 years old, who wrote to her Aunt Belle, at Toulon, Ill.: "Dear Irene — You certainly did yourself proud with the letter you wrote me and I am proud of you, for it was such a nice, instructive letter. I let Aunt Grace and Aunt Elizabeth read it, too, and they thought it a great letter for a girl of your age to write. Any girl who can write a letter like that certainly deserves a gold dollar. I haven't got the gold dollar, but I will send you a paper one, instead, and you can use it to show us around when Uncle Fred and I come out to see all the nice things you speak of in your letter, for them must surely be beautiful." COURT REFUSES INJUNCTION AGAINST UNION OIL PLANT Circuit Judge Calkins has temporarily denied the injunction sought by Henry D. Angle against Union Oil company to prevent construction of the latter's plant on ground adjoining the Angle residence at Crater Lake Junction. In his opinion, the court states: "In this case it is apparent plaintiff is suffering no injury or inconvenience at this time to his property, and will not for some time to come. If defendant desires to put its money into the plant in the face of a possible judgment that it is not entitled to maintain an oil storage station at that point, it takes its own risks. I have concluded I will hold the motion for the restraining order under consideration, pending further developments. If it shall appearing during the progress of the case defendant should be restrained, the court will act promptly in the matter. "But for the present it seems to me the injury in the case would result to the men who probably need the employment they have, were the court to stop the proceedings at this stage."
