At about 8:10 a.m., a 1983 Chevrolet pickup operated by Humerto Peredecosta was westbound on Kerby Mainline about a mile north of Cave Junction and failed to stop at a stop sign. He was struck by a school bus from Illinois Valley School District driven by Greg Bennett that was traveling southbound on US-199. The drivers were not injured, but one of the school-bus passengers was transported to Three Rivers Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Peredecosta was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. A second crash occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on US-199 about 15 miles west of Grants Pass. The First Student school bus had just dropped off the majority of its passengers and had one remaining child on board. The bus had pulled into a gravel turnout in order to turn around. As the bus was stationary, a southbound 2006 Hyundai Tucson left the roadway for unknown reasons, and the driver apparently over-corrected and crashed into the school bus. The driver of the bus and his 5-year-old passenger were both transported to Three Rivers Community Hospital for minor injuries. All four occupants in the Hyundai were transported for injuries. The adult female driver, an adult female passenger and an infant were transported to Three Rivers Community Hospital with unknown injuries. An  adult male was transported to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. A dog that was in the Hyundai was killed.
