Dominant Norum lifts Crater boys CENTRAL POINT - Andrew Norum served as a one-man demolition unit Tuesday night, shattering the Klamath Union boys basketball team's hopes for a Southern Oregon Conference road victory by hanging 27 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks and four assists on the Pelicans. In search of its first postseason berth in three years, Crater improved to 3-0 in the SOC and 10-3 overall. "It appears Andrew's playing a little more focused with a little more intensity as the season goes on," said Comets fifth-year head coach Matt Meunier. "And he's playing within himself." KU (1-2 SOC) enjoyed a 13-5 edge at the conclusion of the first quarter, but Crater detonated for a 23-4 second-quarter advantage to take a 28-17 lead into halftime. "In the second quarter, we upped our defense and got a lot of steals that led to fastbreak baskets," said Meunier, who had his squad in a pressure, man-to-man defense. Sophomore wing Jacob Wynn was the Pelicans' top scorer, striking for 20 points. Norum was helped by senior guards Chris Pettegrew and Derek Petersen, who tallied 15 and 14 points, respectively. "If we want to be a playoff team, we have to win games like this on our home floor," Meunier said.
