Domicilary field. The second-ranked Challengers took a 25-8 lead into the fourth quarter. Then Bonanza's Kyle Gomez capped a 20-point fourth-quarter with a touchdown catch with 1:18 remaining to rally the Antlers to a 28-25 victory. "We have to finish," Cascade Christian offensive and defensive coordinator Brandon Boice said. "That's been our challenge since we started to turn this thing around." Gomez made big play after big play for the Antlers in a game that will probably determine the SCL champion. Advertisement On the winning play, Gomez caught a quick hitch pattern from Bonanza quarterback Andy Davis, shook off a tackle near the line of scrimmage and completed a determined effort into the end zone from 10 yards out. "I knew as soon as I was getting it, I wasn't going to get stopped," said Gomez, who scored three touchdowns in the game. On Bonanza's previous scoring drive, Gomez made a controversial catch that put the ball on the Challengers' 1-yard line. Cascade Christian defensive back Bryan Thomas looked to have an interception on the play, but Gomez went up and wrestled the ball away. "I went up and it was dual possession," said Gomez. "I didn't know what the refs would call. I'm glad it went our way. It was a game-changer." Two plays latter, Gomez took a backward pass from Davis and used a stiff arm to get into the end zone with 4:17 left. Gomez caught a two-point conversion pass from Davis to cut the Challengers' lead to 25-22. For the first three quarters Cascade Christian dominated the game. The Challengers drove 55 yards with the opening kickoff for a touchdown on Preston Wipf's 1-yard run. Gomez provided the Antlers with their only first-half points by faking a reverse on the ensuing kickoff and racing 89 yards up the sideline for a TD. Then on a fake extra-point play, Gomez passed to Andy Davis for the two-point conversion. Cascade Christian erased the 8-6 deficit on Daniel Kinney's 5-yard touchdown run to complete a 25-yard drive. The Challengers failed to capitalize on two other first-half scoring chances but took control of the game with Josh Davis TD passes to Josh Heidegger and Jordan Burchfiel in the third quarter. "They outplayed us in every facet," said Boice. "They played harder and we didn't deserve to win."
