Evans named SoHumane's executive director Wednesday Oct 26, 2016 at 10:12 AM Oct 26, 2016 at 10:12 AM Karen Evans has been named Southern Oregon Humane Society's new executive director. Evans has been serving in the position as interim since Kenn Altine left in June to become CEO of the Sacramento Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Evans was first hired on at SoHumane as development director in 2015, increasing donations and the number of donors and implementing several new fundraising programs, according to a SoHumane news release. Evans was selected after a four-month search. Before coming to SoHumane, she was business development manager for Barrett Business Services Inc. in Southern Oregon. Before that, she was BBSI's Southern Oregon area manager. She's also managed a privately owned dental group in North Carolina. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. In 2015, SoHumane adopted out more than 1,800 dogs and cats, spayed or neutered 600 pets and saved 700 from euthanasia at other shelters through it's "Saving Train" program, according to the release.
