Dale was born February 10, 1921 in Chewelah, Wash. the last of five children of Albert E. and Vera Bernice (Teeter) Edwards. Dale and his twin Keith were constant companions and shared a love of trains. In 1946, Dale and his twin Keith relocated to Spokane, Wash. where they started their own tool and die business. It was here that he met his future wife, Grace Ida Hanke. They were married April 16, 1948. In 1950 the brothers moved the Edwards Mold and Die company to Reseda, Calif. to get away from the cold. Here they continued to manufacture tool and dies along with building on a new idea for a realistic coupler for the model railroad hobby. Dale loved working with his hands and inventing things. He was always looking at something and trying to figure out how to make it better. Dale and his family moved to Medford in 1956 and renamed the business, Kadee (Keith and Dale Edwards Edwards) Metal Products which became a world class manufacture of model railroad couplers, accessories and cars. In 1990 Kadee Metal Products split and Kadee Quality Products moved to White City where Dale continued to be active in the business until shortly before his passing. Dale is survived by his five children, Lawrence D. Edwards, Jr, Central Point, Hans and Jackie Stangier, Albany, Dennis and Bonnie Harvey, Maple Valley, Wash., Alan and Melinda Vezzani, Medford; and Douglas and Ronda Edwards, Rathdrum, Idaho; and his six grandchildren, Jennifer, Daniel, Sarah, Hannah, Patrick, and Kara. His wife of 60 years Grace preceded him in death. Dale was a past Worshipful Master of the Medford Masonic Lodge #103. He was founding member of the local chapter of Society of Manufacturing and Engineers in which he was awarded and honorary engineers degree for all his achievements. He also wrote the standards for die maker, diecasting and plastic molder apprenticeship for the state of Oregon and numerous awards from the NMRA and inducted into the Model railroad Hall of Fame. He was instrumental in saving the Medco Locomotive #4 and one of founders of the Medford Railroad Park.
