Family members of the two boys and girl, children of 34-year-old Amy Sue Foster, wished that no information be released about their condition, authorities said. The three, which Jackson County sheriff's deputies said are all younger than 9 years old, were flown Thursday from Medford to an unidentified Portland hospital. Foster and Rebecca Lynn Showalter, 6, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near Reese Creek Road not far from Highway 62. Investigators are still trying to piece together why Foster was driving erratically minutes before her westbound minivan crossed the center line and slammed into the grill of the log truck, whose driver was not injured, according to the sheriff's department. A witness reported Foster's erratic driving to authorities before the crash. Investigators are awaiting toxicology results, and county sheriff's Capt. Nathan Sickler said detectives don't know whether alcohol or drugs were involved. "We are going to look at all the facts as to what was happening right before the crash and the cause of that erratic driving," Sickler said. Foster had a spotless driving record in Oregon the past 11 years after separate convictions in 2004 for speeding and failing to wear a safety belt and in 2002 for failing to perform the duties of a driver in a crash that caused property damage, according to Oregon court records.
