The band will comprise about 120 students from 20 regional high schools and will be conducted by SOU associate professor and Honor Band coordinator Cynthia Hutton with guest clinician John F. CARMINA BURANA: The combined choirs, bands and orchestras of North and South Medford high schools will perform Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana," a piece of 20th century music that is often used to introduce young people to the world of classical music, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at North Medford High School, 1900 N. Keeneway Drive, Medford, and at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at South Medford High School, 815 S. Oakdale Ave., Medford. Also joining the students in performance will be professional singers and instrumentalists from the Rogue Valley. Guest conductor is Wayne Bennett, University of Oregon symphony conductor. Featured soloists include Ellie Holt-Murray, Andrew Brock, and Michael Flaherty. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students at the door. Proceeds will benefit music programs in local schools. Thursday, Feb. 8 MEN OF WORTH: The Siskiyou Institute will present the Celtic folk music duo Men of Worth at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at Ashland High School Mountain Avenue Theater, 201 S. Mountain Ave., Ashland. The concert and workshops with students are being presented in cooperation with the Ashland High School Choir. The concert will benefit the Siskiyou Institute's Visiting Artists program, which brings musicians into the local schools to teach workshops and master classes. AQUARIAN LOVEFEST: IWill Presents will host the ninth annual Aquarian Lovefest Valentine Dance Party featuring Soul Majestic and bellydancing by Aiwa She' Raqa with opening act State of Jefferson with music beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, at Out of the Way Cafe (formerly the American Legion Hall), 123 Blogett Road, Williams.
