Medford police arrested Martin Saturday on a charge of first-degree arson in connection with a fire that forced evacuation of a duplex where he once lived. No one was hurt in the fire that occurred just before 8 p.m. Saturday at 1116 S. Holly St. However, the residence received "substantial damage," police said. Comments from witnesses and physical evidence led police and fire officials to suspect that the fire had been set deliberately, Medford Officer Greg Lemhouse said. As part of the investigation, police contacted former tenants. When Martin was questioned, he admitted setting the fire, Lemhouse said. Martin was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $20,000 bail. Assault — Gary John Nork, 33, Eagle Point. Jackson County sheriff’s deputies arrested Nork Saturday on charges of felony fourth- degree assault, harassment and interfering with a police report. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $12,000 bail. Drugs — Cathleen Gene Reeves, 48, Medford. Medford police arrested Reeves Sunday on a charge of possession of amphetamine. She was lodged in the Jackson County Jail. Identity theft — Jonathan William Anderson, 27, San Jose, Calif. Medford police arrested Anderson Sunday on outstanding warrants for charges of identity theft, second-degree theft, credit card fraud and a parole violation on a charge of fourth-degree assault. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $29,000 bail. Drugs, theft — Philip Lee Begley, 21, Medford. Medford police arrested Begley Sunday on charges of possession of amphetamine, first- degree burglary, first-degree theft and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $80,000 bail. Advertisement Drugs — Gafford Wayne Wilburn, 30, no address listed. Medford police arrested Wilburn Sunday on a charge of possession of amphetamine. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $5,000 bail. Drugs — Carl Richard Haney, 27, La Pine. Jackson County sheriff’s deputies arrested Haney Sunday on a charge of possession of amphetamine. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $5,000 bail. Theft, escape — Michael James Murray, 40, Wimer. Jackson County sheriff’s deputies arrested Murray Sunday on an outstanding warrant for first-degree aggravated theft, third-degree escape, resisting arrest and second-degree criminal mischief. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail without bail. Drugs — Richard Eugene Morey, 43, no address listed. Central Point police arrested Morey Sunday on a charge of possession of amphetamine. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $5,000 bail. Crime reports Theft — Medford police are investigating the theft of two cameras valued at $1,000 Sunday from a residence in the 1400 block of Appleton Circle, Medford. The theft was reported at about 10 a.m. Sunday. Assault — An employee at Bobbio’s Pizza, 7581 Cascade Shopping Center, White City, reported being assaulted early Sunday. Jackson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the 12:36 a.m. incident.
