Jackson County at 321 deaths By Nick Morgan Updated: Nov 01, 2021 03:50 PM A A New death in Josephine County brings their death toll to 199 Two Southern Oregonians died of coronavirus related causes over the weekend, according to state and local health officials. The Oregon Health Authority reported five new deaths across the state Monday, according to a state report, including the deaths of one Jackson County resident and another Josephine County resident. The latest Jackson County death was that of a 56-year-old man who first tested positive for COVID-19 on Oct. 18, and died Thursday at Providence Medford Medical Center, according to the OHA. He had underlying conditions that contributed to his death. The latest Josephine County fatality was that of a 67-year-old woman who tested positive Oct. 22 and died Friday at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass. State health officials say she had underlying conditions that contributed to her death. The new Jackson County fatality brings the local death toll to 321, and the new Josephine County fatality brings their death toll to 199. Other deaths reported Monday across the state were those of a 62-year-old lane County woman who tested positive for the coronavirus Oct. 14 and died Thursday at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, a 69-year-old Harney County man who tested positive Oct. 4 and died Oct. 25 at St. Charles Bend Hospital and a 95-year-old Umatilla County man who tested positive Aug. 31 and died Oct. 19 at his residence. The Harney County patient had underlying conditions that contributed to his death, according to the OHA, and health officials were still in the process of determining whether the Lane and Umatilla County fatalities had underlying conditions. The new death brings the state’s death toll to 4,377. Health officials also recorded 2,569 new cases across the state over the weekend Monday, including 146 new cases in Jackson County and 74 new cases in Josephine County. Other cases broken down by county included 420 new cases in Multnomah, 290 in Marion, 270 in Washington, 262 in Deschutes, 235 in Clackamas, 195 in Lane, 151 in Linn, 68 in Douglas, 51 in Klamath, 48 in Benton, 47 in Yamhill, 40 in Polk, 36 in Jefferson, 33 in Coos, 29 in Columbia, 25 in Crook, 23 each in Lincoln and Umatilla, 22 in Union, 12 in Hood River, 10 each in Tillamook and Wasco, eight each in Baker, Clatsop and Malheur, six in Grant, four in Wallowa, two each in Harney and Lake and one each in Curry and Sherman. The new cases bring the statewide case log to 367,610, Jackson County’s case log to 23,577 and Josephine County’s case log to 9,604.
