State, 77-53 Comment By The Associated Press MailTribune.com By The Associated Press Posted Mar. 13, 2015 at 2:00 AM By The Associated Press Posted Mar. 13, 2015 at 2:00 AM » Social News GREENSBORO, N.C. — Quinn Cook scored 15 points and No. 2 Duke routed North Carolina State 77-53 on Thursday night in the Atlantic Coast Conference quarterfinals. Backup center Marshall Plumlee added a career-high 12 points on six dunks to help the second-seeded Blue Devils (29-3) win their 12th straight. They never trailed, scored on 22 of their first 26 possessions, led by 30 and cruised into the semifinals by avenging their first loss this season. Duke will face Notre Dame in the semifinals. Ralston Turner had 16 points and Abdul-Malik Abu added 10 for the seventh-seeded Wolfpack (20-13). NO. 3 VIRGINIA 58, FLORIDA STATE 44: At Greensboro, N.C., Mike Tobey and Evan Nolte each scored 11 points and Virginia held on to beat Florida State in the Atlantic Coast Conference quarterfinals. Malcolm Brodgon scored all 10 of his points in the second half for the top-seeded and defending tournament champion Cavaliers (29-2). They will face No. 19 North Carolina in the semifinals. NO. 4 VILLANOVA 84, MARQUETTE 49: At New York, Big East Sixth Man of the Year Josh Hart scored 20 points off the bench, and Villanova beat Marquette in the Big East quarterfinals. The Wildcats (30-2) lost to Seton Hall in the quarters on a last-second shot last year. This one was over much earlier as Villanova made 17 of 29 3-point attempts to win its 13th straight. NO. 5 ARIZONA 73, CALIFORNIA 51: At Las Vegas, Stanley Johnson had 19 points and Brandon Ashley added 15, lifting Arizona past California in the Pac-12 quarterfinals. With scoring leader Perry Ellis sidelined by a knee injury, the top-seeded Jayhawks (25-7) had to sweat out all 40 minutes against the ninth-seeded seed Horned Frogs. It wasn't until Oubre got loose for a jam with a minute left that Kansas got some breathing room. NO. 11 NOTRE DAME 70, MIAMI 63: At Greensboro, N.C., Steve Vasturia hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 6:13 left and Notre Dame held off Miami after blowing a 20-point lead in the Atlantic Coast Conference quarterfinals. Vasturia's 3 helped the Fighting Irish (27-5) survive a disastrous collapse in which the Hurricanes (21-12) came all the way back to take a two-point lead with 6 1/2 minutes left. NO. 13 IOWA STATE 69, TEXAS 67: At Kansas City, Mo., Monte Morris rose up and hit an 18-foot jumper at the buzzer, capping a 12-0 closing run that lifted Iowa State past Texas in the Big 12 quarterfinals.
