Lyle Olaf Bergh Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Aug. 7, 2015 at 2:00 AM Posted Aug. 7, 2015 at 2:00 AM » Social News Lyle Olaf Bergh Lyle Olaf Bergh, 92, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015 at his home in Talent, Ore. with family by his side. He was born February 27, 1923 in Redstone, Mont. to Elmer and Annie Bergh. By the time he was 10 years old, both parents had died. With his oldest brother just 17 at the time, they all worked together and kept their family farm going. He married Edna Selvig, the love of his life, in 1942. He attended college in Bozeman and Havre, Mont. studying chemistry and horticulture. He continued to farm and worked as a coal miner until he broke his back in a mining accident. He and Edna moved around for a while including to the Sacramento area and Phoenix, Ariz. before settling in Billings, Mont. where he established his watch-making business, which he ran for nearly 40 years until his retirement in 1984. He was known for his skill and craftsmanship in the field of Horology as well as for his outstanding and loyal service to his customers. Lyle's love of the Lord, honesty, integrity, and quiet strength were evident to all who knew him - from family and friends to business associates. Lyle's hobbies included building on to their homes, gardening, and bowling. Upon his retirement, he and Edna moved to Oregon to be close to their daughter. After his beloved Edna passed in 1990 he continued with his hobbies well into his eighties. In his latter years he most enjoyed spending time with his daughter and her family, especially sharing good meals together. He is survived by his daughter, Teresa and her life partner, Anita Milch; two granddaughters, Amanda Milch (Kirby Caunt) and Ayla (Todd) Fields; four great-grandchildren, Devin, Keara, and Tucker Milch and Lylli Fields; one sister, Evy Nikolaisen and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Bergh both of Plentywood, Mont.; Maryann Miller, many nieces and nephews; and his close friends, Ed, Roxy, and Phillip Lee. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; three brothers, Vince, Quent, and Louis; and one sister, Phyll. A private graveside service was held at Siskiyou Memorial Park. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Mountain View Estates Clubhouse, 333 Mountain View Dr., Talent, Ore. Please come share your special memories of Lyle with his family. He is greatly missed by all who loved him, but we rejoice he is at peace and reunited with his beloved.
