A-List Award restaurants are recognized by the board for carrying a significant number of Oregon wines, typically representing a variety of styles and producers, with the listing clearly designating the wine’s Oregon origin. The Southern Oregon awardees for 2016 are: Alchemy Restaurant & Bar, Ashland; Bella Union, Jacksonville; Jacksonville Inn, Jacksonville; Kaleidoscope Pizza, Medford; Larks Home Kitchen Cuisine, Ashland; Larks Home Kitchen Cuisine, Medford; The Peerless Restaurant, Ashland; Pomodori Bistro & Wine Bar, Medford; Prospect Dinner House, Prospect; The Regency Grill, Medford; Smithfields Restaurant & Bar, Ashland; Steamboat Inn, Idleyld Park In addition, Jacksonville Inn and Steamboat Inn were recognized as A-List Regional Spotlight Award winners. According to a Wine Board release, the Regional Spotlight Awards are given to restaurants that have exceeded the expectations of an A-List awarded restaurant. Spotlight restaurants typically devote 30 percent or more of their wine lists to Oregon wine from more than two of the five major growing regions in Oregon, made from a diversity of varietals, often with the listing clearly designating the wine’s AVA origin. Jesse Lopez of Celestina Vineyards west of Phoenix was also recognized by the Wine Board, receiving one of three Vineyard Excellence Awards given to vineyard professionals who have excelled in their work. The awards were announced today at the Oregon Wine Industry Awards Luncheon, as part of the annual Oregon Wine Symposium.
