Two others were listed in fair condition in Medford hospitals while the seventh was flown to a Portland hospital for treatment, but patient privacy rules mean her condition could not be made public Monday, authorities said. The accident remains under investigation by the Oregon State Police, and assault charges could be filed against one of the drivers in the case. The crash occurred about 5 p.m. when Suzanna B. Lopez, 25, was driving home to Central Point from Klamath Falls with five passengers in a new Toyota sedan, the OSP said. Advertisement Near milepost 14 near Lake Creek, Lopez pulled the westbound sedan into the eastbound lanes to pass a vehicle, but her car instead struck an eastbound Ford Explorer driven by Ronald Bailey of Federal Way, Wash., authorities said. Passersby were able to free Bailey from the Explorer, which was destroyed by flames that also caused a brush fire that Oregon Department of Forestry crews had to squelch, police said. Rance Hall, a 52-year-old passenger in the Explorer, was able to flee the burning SUV but still suffered injuries, police said. Jackson County Fire District No. 3 firefighters took about an hour to extricate Lopez from the wreckage. She was taken to Rogue Valley Medical Center by ambulance, then later flown to Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital & Medical Center in Portland for treatment. Citing new federal privacy rules, hospital authorities wouldn’t reveal information about Lopez on Monday. Bailey remained in serious condition at RVMC on Monday, a hospital nursing supervisor said. Also listed in serious condition at RVMC were two passengers in Lopez’s car: Daisy Esquevel, 15, and Alejandra Plascensia, 12. No addresses were available. Listed in fair condition at Providence Medford Medical Center were Hall and 33-year-old Maria Plascensia. The OSP was continuing its investigation because of the seriousness of the injuries, police said. No citations have been issued and no arrests have been made, police said.
