At about 1:30 p.m. Friday, the man was leaving his business when a middle-aged man in camouflage pants reportedly displayed a handgun and demanded his money, Ashland police said in a news release. The victim told investigators he complied with the demand. Then the robber ran away with an undisclosed sum of money. According to Ashland police Sgt. Bob Smith, the victim had never seen the suspect before the robbery. He described the robber as a white man between the ages of 45 and 50, between 6 feet and 6 feet, 2 inches tall with a medium to stocky build. He reportedly wore a green military-style field jacket, camouflage pants and black leather boots. He was clean shaven with short black hair. The suspect showed a gray semi-automatic handgun during the crime, police said The victim didn't keep a regular deposit schedule or exhibit other behaviors that might have attracted the attention of a criminal, Smith said, adding that the crime appears to be random. "According to the victim, he didn't have any set pattern," Smith said. Ashland police are asking for the public's help identifying and locating the suspect.
