Little, Smith help pace Ashland girls to SOC win GRANTS PASS - Lila Little and Michelle Smith each won two events to lead the Ashland girls swim team to a win at a three-team Southern Oregon Conference meet on Tuesday. Little captured the 200 freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 23 seconds and the 500 freestyle in 6:16. Smith won the 100 fly in 1:08 and 100 backstroke in 1:13.94. In boys, Tyler Van Brunt took home two wins to lead Grants Pass to a team win. Van Brunt won the 200 individual medley (2:21.75) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.03). Ashland's Brad Scoles swam to wins in the 200 freestyle (2:00.85) and 100 freestyle (49.09). BOYS TEAM RESULTS - Grants Pass 130, Ashland 88, Eagle Point 67. In girls action, freshman Maggie Morefield paced the Pirates to a 154-86 win by claiming two first-place finishes (200-yard individual medley and 100 backstroke) and aiding in medley and 400 freestyle relay victories. Senior Lynsey Force swam to individual victories in the 500 free and 100 breaststroke to power Hidden Valley. For the boys, senior Tony Byrd won the 50 and 100 freestyle races as the Pirates forged a 145-107 win.
