Beverly Rae Walker Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Oct. 14, 2014 at 2:00 AM Posted Oct. 14, 2014 at 2:00 AM » Social News April 16, 1930- October 9, 2014 Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Friend Beverly Rae Walker, 84 passed away at Providence Hospital. She was the fourth child born to Ray and Edith Weir, April 16 1930. She grew up in Calif.. before moving to Phoenix, Ore. where she met Cleve Walker when he returned from the service. They married in Medford and raised their family in Crescent City, Calif. where he built their home from the ground up. She was an active part of the community and served as the President of the Fisherman's Wives Club. She enjoyed commercial and sport fishing, often heading out for the day with her brother or sister. She loved the ocean, driving in her car, and watching sports on TV. She retired to the Rogue Valley and continued to work as a caregiver. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, hunting with her son-in-law, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She moved to Northridge Retirement Center eight years ago and quickly made many more friends. She was always willing to help and touched many lives. She served as the President of the resident council, enjoyed playing Bingo and Wii bowling. She was very talented making crocheted items and jewelry, and was known for her beads! She was most proud of her family, daughters Violet Groom-Smothers and Billie Jo Walker; grandchildren Rod and Ryan Groom, Shauna Spees (Zwierlein), Kandi Kiel (Zwierlein); and her eight great-grandchildren: Kayleen, Lyla, Chanel, Carly, Kendall, Jenna, Caleb, and Micah. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cleve Grant Walker; brother Melvin and sisters Waneta and Lucille. Her last days were spent surrounded by friends and family. She will be deeply missed. Services will be held at Northridge retirement center, Wednesday October 15, 3:30pm.
