Matchett closes in on school record in SOU win SALEM - Kristina Matchett had 21 kills to move within seven of the school record as the Southern Oregon University volleyball team gave coach Paul Elliott his 250th win with a 30-22, 30-21, 30-26 victory over Western Baptist on Friday. Elliott is now one of three coaches at SOU to have 200-plus wins. He has only 124 losses in 11 seasons with the Raiders. Sabrina Garboden led SOU with 50 assists and tied for a team-high with 12 digs. Shelley Gorin also added 12. The Raiders improve to 15-6 overall and 10-4 in the Cascade Conference. Soccer CONCORDIA 5, SOUTHERN OREGON 0 - At Portland, Cascade Conference front-runner Concordia earned revenge in a big way. After suffering a 1-0 upset loss to the Southern Oregon women's soccer team in Ashland on Oct. 13, the Cavaliers pounded the Raiders. Central midfielder Missy Clark, the 2000 Cascade player of the year, riddled the SOU defense with three goals and an assist while firing eight of Concordia's 30 total shots. The Raiders (8-9-1 overall, 8-4-1 Cascade) were held shotless by the Cavaliers (15-4, 12-1), who started their scoring with a goal by Katie Ross in the 13th minute and, after Clark's three scores, got a goal from Christal Grazier in the 86th minute. Junior goalkeeper Emily Schifferling, who stopped a Clark penalty kick in her shutout of Concordia on Oct. 13, made 13 saves but allowed all five goals.
