S. Mathison, their expert, who have been in the valley looking over the situation for a large cannery, left Wednesday evening after having made a thorough inspection under the guidance of County Commissioner F. H. Madden, who interested them in the valley. "They were very favorably impressed," said Mr. Madden after their departure, "and left for Chicago, where the proposed Medford cannery will be put up to the directors of Libby, McNeil and Libby with a favorable report, and with every indication of favorable action. "It is too late to figure on a cannery for this year, as contracts for the required produce must be made in advance, but they expect to have preliminaries concluded, with a view to have everything in readiness for the next season. "The pears alone will not justify a large cannery, as they furnish six weeks of operation, and in order to fill out the season they will contract for a large acreage of spinach, beans, tomatoes, beets, berries and other produce. "Mr. Larmon stated he was charmed with the valley and from his examination of products was convinced Rogue river valley produced not only superior pears and peaches, but many other products and a high grade of goods can be marketed at a price making their growing profitable to the producer." "THE YELLOW STREAK" AT PAGE TONIGHT "The Yellow Streak," the Metro photoplay, opened at the Page theater last night. It neglects absurd improbabilities. There are thrills aplenty of the good old sort, and heart interest is created gracefully. Comedy relief is found in many humorous situations and little bits of business contributed by different members of the cast. In playing the part of Barry Dale, Mr. Barrymore is the consummate artist. In his transition from one to the other of the three distinctly different types that the role calls for — broker, bandit and "parson" — he is thoroughly consistent. It is no small matter. The other members of the company that support him are very good. Irene Howley as Mary Austin is especially pleasing. "The Yellow Streak" will be shown tonight for the last time.
