1 driver killed, another injured in Josephine County head-on crash By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Jan 25, 2022 09:24 AM A A A motorist from Grants Pass was killed Monday, and another, from Eastern Oregon, was rushed to a Medford hospital following a head-on crash on the Redwood Highway near Wonder. Eddie Bartley, 72, of Grants Pass, died in a head-on crash first called in to 911 dispatchers at 12:48 P.M. Monday on Highway 199 near milepost 10 and the Elliott Creek Road intersection, according to releases from Oregon State Police and Rural-Metro Fire. Bartley was headed north on the highway in a Toyota Corolla when for unknown reasons he drifted into the oncoming lane and collided with a Hyundai Elantra driven by Kelly Martin, 49, of Dallas, according to police’s preliminary investigation. Bartley was pronounced deceased at the scene, and Martin was rushed to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford with severe injuries. The crash investigation closed the highway for approximately one hour, and reduced access to one lane with flaggers in the area for approximately three hours Monday afternoon.
