Medford City Hall gets new roof this month Contractors will begin replacing the roof of Medford City Hall on Tuesday and continue until the end of the month. Leaks in the roof have been a problem for several winters, said Cathie Davis, assistant to the city manager. "It's (the reroofing) just to keep us from having to put buckets in the hallways of the third floor," Davis said. Traffic and parking on Ivy Street are expected to be affected for a short time on the first and last days of construction when a crane will be used to move equipment and materials to and from the roof, Davis said. The work is expected to cost $88,350 and is being done by Harbert Roofing of Palo Cedro, Calif. The decorative copper-colored metal on top of the building will not be affected; the roofing material that will be replaced is not visible from below, because it is behind a three-foot parapet. The reroofing project is a part of the overall renovation of City Hall that is beginning this year. This is the first major renovation of City Hall since it was constructed 30 years ago, Davis said.
