Mick's Alehouse to leave Rogue Valley Mall Mick's Alehouse & Restaurant, a fixture at the Rogue Valley Mall for a decade, will close after New Year's Eve. It may reopen elsewhere in Medford, but no site has been selected. "Our 10-year lease is up (at the end of 1998)," says owner Mick Walkup, "and it's time to pull the plug." He preferred not to go into specifics but said he decided against continuing at the mall. Another restaurant is coming in, he added, a "pizza bar and grill." Of another site for Mick's, he said, "I'm looking." Mick and Betty Walkup founded Mick's originally at 1015 S. Riverside Ave. (now the Riverside Lounge) in the early 1980s, then expanded to the mall and had two Medford restaurants for a time.
