Council plans Britt discussion JACKSONVILLE -- Dissonant chords over late-night concerts at the Britt grounds may be resolved now that the City Council and Jackson County Parks officials have selected a mediator. Keri Green, an Ashland mediator and facilitator, will meet with the three parties involved -- Britt Music Festival, the city of Jacksonville and Jackson County -- beginning with a closed session on Dec. 16. One of the discussion items is whether the meetings will be open to the public, says Paul Wyntergreen, Jacksonville city administrator. The city is paying for its share of the mediation process with a $5,000 state grant. The Britt Music Festival is held each summer on the Britt grounds, which is county-owned property located in a residential section of town. Earlier this year, 23 neighbors presented a petition to the City Council with concerns that some music is too loud and that Britt noise continues after the 10:30 p.m. curfew.
