Reader Mail By Chip and Jonathan Carter Tribune Media Services Back to the mailbag! HEY CHIP & JONATHAN : Do you know any codes for the game Gauntlet Legends for N64? I just bought it and I want some codes. Is there one that enables all of the secret characters? Thanks. � Eric Wilson, Houston, Texas ERIC : My, in a hurry, aren't we? This one's brand-new! We can tell you how to get some of the best secret characters. To play as the Falconess, collect 50 coins in the bonus stage in the Castle World. To play as the Jackal, at the end of the second level of the Ice World, climb the series of slanted crates, then circle back down. Climb the next series of crates � just before the exit � and you'll find a trapdoor at a dead end. Once through that door, collect 50 coins. To play as the Minotaur, find every switch in the fourth Mountain level. Go to the exit and stand on the store with the skull. Head into the bonus round and � you guessed it � collect 50 coins. To play as the Summoner, find all the shards and beat the first Scorn. Go into the first area. When you reach the exit go to the left and follow the wall until you reach a gate. Find 50 coins, of course. To play as the Tigress, find all the main switches and head to the portal in the first Town level. When you reach the portal, head back the way you came until you come to a hill with a chest, a switch and Death. Hit the switch and follow its direction to find a trapdoor, where you will have to collect 1 million coins to play as Tigress � just kidding! It's 50, of course. HEY CHIP & JONATHAN : When will your Year's Best List for 1999 come out? Also, the last few weeks, your column in our paper has been more of a review of new games rather than codes for existing games. Can't you mix some codes in with your reviews? Before that, though, we'll be doing a list of what we think will be the hottest games that'll be new for Christmas. That one will be out the early part of December. As for the tips and tricks, we typically attach those to the end of each column now. If you're not seeing them, then your paper's cutting them off. Enter the code GOLDEN and you can attract a better class of recruits. Or you could just skip all that and enter the code UNSTOPPABLE for a team that's hard to beat. HEY CHIP & JONATHAN : I've been playing Mario Golf for months and I still can't figure out how to get Metal Mario. If you don't know how, I give up. � Stephanie Tinkmann, Santa Rosa, Calif. STEPH : This one's simple ... sort of. You have to get 108 Birdie Badges in tournament mode. We do have a couple of ways to breathe new life into this one, too. At the main menu, highlight Clubhouse and press Z, R and A at the same time. You'll get a new option that lets you enter codes. You can play the Camp Hyrule Cup 1 by entering 0EQ561G2, the Camp Hyrule Cup 2 with 5VW689O6, and the Nintendo Power Tournament with KPXWN9N3.
