Restaurant Inspections: December 2016 Thursday Jan 12, 2017 at 10:10 AM Jan 12, 2017 at 11:52 AM Jackson County health officials inspected 143 restaurants in December, and 87 earned perfect scores of 100. One, King Wah, 1182 Court St., Medford, failed its inspection Dec. 19, scoring 60 points, below the failure mark of 70 points. Critical violations included improper hand-washing techniques among a kitchen staff and waitstaff member; barbecue pork, chicken and cooked rice held at unsafe temperatures; inadequate chlorine sanitizer in the dishwasher, use of a unapproved residential spray pesticide; multiple food items found uncovered in the walk-in freezer; no sanitizer bucket, unclean surfaces, including shelves of the walk-in refrigerator and shelves below the microwave, no covered trash receptacle in the women's restroom. The restaurant passed its Dec. 29 follow-up inspection. A portion of the scores is published weekly in the Mail Tribune.
