Emergency crews found Joshua Terry Barron, 22, of the 3500 block of Ross Lane, Medford, and Damian R. Valencia, 24, of the 2700 block of Falcon Street, White City, dead at the scene of the accident. Witnesses told investigators that Barron sped through Central Point in a 1991 Ford F250 pickup truck westbound on Pine Street. Where West Pine Street curves south to become Hanley Road, he failed to make the turn and the truck left the pavement. It overturned and hit a tree. Sheriff’s deputies, Central Point police and crews from Jackson County Fire District No. 3 and Mercy Flights ambulance service responded to the crash initially. Officers then called the county’s interagency traffic accident reconstruction team to investigate the accident. The team also includes investigators from Medford and Ashland police departments and Oregon State Police. A county medical examiner also responded and will continue the investigation, including tests to determine whether alcohol was involved, Sheriff’s Capt. Joe Puckett said. Officials said a majority of fatal crashes in the county involve intoxicated drivers. Conger-Morris Funeral Directors is handling arrangements.
