October 11. 2014 2:00AM Calvin Schaefer Calvin Schaefer of Central Point, Ore. passed away at his home on October 6, 2014 at the age of 91. Cal was a World War II veteran and a member of the Palms Masonic Lodge in Los Angeles, Calif. One of 10 children, Cal was born May 3, 1923 in Peggy, Texas to John W. and Hulda Schaefer. In 1938, at the age of 15, he packed his things. In 1941, he joined the Army Air Corp, 15 Air Force. After getting out of the military, Cal went into the aircraft industry from which he retired 35 years later. Cal will be missed by his loving wife, family and friends. All the wonderful memories that have been shared will ease the emptiness that is sorely felt now. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; son, Chuck Schaefer (Debbie); daughter, Maureen Kerwood; grandchildren, Chris Kerwood, Megan Kerwood, Cassandra Schaefer, and Calvin Schaefer; sister, Velma Cassinicos; and brother, Warren Schaefer. He is preceded in death by granddaughter, Nicole Schaefer; brothers, Delma, Eugene, and Johnny; and sisters, Alice Buehring, Norma Blanchard, Lenora Lester, and Anita Brister. Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Perl Funeral Home, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd, Medford, Ore.
