Betty Jeanne (Younglove) McEachron Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted May. 27, 2015 at 3:10 PM Updated May 27, 2015 at 3:11 PM Posted May. 27, 2015 at 3:10 PM Updated May 27, 2015 at 3:11 PM » Social News Betty Jeanne (Younglove) McEachron Betty Jeanne (Younglove) McEachron passed away peacefully in her Medford home Friday morning, May 15, 2015 having made a notation in her daily prayer journal that “the Lord will set my agenda for today.” She was a remarkable wife, mother, and friend who always saw the best in everyone and led her life with patience and grace. Betty was born in Sioux City, Iowa August 26, 1923, the third child and first daughter of Clyde and Hazel Younglove. She graduated from high school in Sioux City then attended the University of South Dakota earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Education and Drama in the spring of 1945. While at the University, Betty was an officer for her sorority, Pi Beta Phi, as well as the president of the Playcrafters club. She was also a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and the Mortar Board Honor Society. It was at the University of South Dakota that she met Lawrence “Mac” McEachron when they both served on the cheerleading squad. She married Mac September 14, 1946 when he returned from service in the war and was still at his side when he passed away December 6, 2007. After Betty and Mac were married, they moved to North Platte, Neb. where they lived for nine years and where all three of their children were born. Betty and Mac moved to Medford in 1955 and continued raising their family and participating in their community. Raising her family included supporting skiing adventures, cooking on a wood burning stove at the family cabin in the Siskiyou Mountains, sewing costumes for grade school plays, teaching church school, baking the world’s best apple pie, and offering wise council and love through the teenage years and beyond to her children and to others. Betty served in leadership positions at First Presbyterian Church and then at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Betty was also an active member of the Chapter AA of the PEO group. She took great joy in the plants and animals in the Rogue River Valley and beyond. She was an enthusiastic reader of a broad range of fiction and non-fiction. In addition to her many close friends here in Medford and elsewhere, Betty is survived by her three children and their spouses: David and Margie McEachron of Saratoga, Calif., Brian McEachron of Bend, Ore. and John Evans and Kim McEachron of Santa Rosa, Calif. and her six grandchildren: Nate, Heather, and Kyle Evans (John and Kim), Scott McEachron and Betsy Anderson (Brian), and Andrew McEachron (David and Margie). A memorial service for Betty will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations be made to the PEO scholarship fund or to Westminster Presbyterian Church relief funds.
