I want to give a huge shoutout to the many volunteers, city employees (Hector Flores, in particular), police and firefighters for making it such a smooth operation to be a vendor. The directions were clear and traffic was well planned, making the process of unloading, setting up and tearing down booths seamless. Thank you for a job well done! Judy Pierce for the Talent Food Project Outraged by Sparacino ads I am outraged by Randy Sparacino’s fear-mongering ads about Jeff Golden and the fire risk map. Randy doesn’t appear to know that the Bureau of Land Management and Forest Service are working to reduce fire danger (dependent on funding). It’s the landowner’s responsibility to reduce fire risk on their property. The map, created by Oregon State University, was a broad-brush look at the risk, which sure made us aware of the potential risk. No surprise that we live in a risky area after seeing Talent and Phoenix burn. Now OSU and the Oregon Department of Forestry need input to refine this map. Do you do things on your property to reduce risk? If so, get involved so your property is more accurately labeled. Sparacino doesn’t know what he’s talking about. For our future in reducing fire danger, vote for Jeff Golden — he cares. Golden for state senator — Sparacino for mayor. Barbara Mumblo Jacksonville Dyer for commissioner Rick formed the group advocating for our youth to be in school, as well as, their sports and activities. I have personally witnessed his concern and respect for our youth. With fire and smoke devastation in our area, Rick has been an advocate and fought for full suppression of fires (to put out immediately) and better forest management. Rick has helped to cut our debt and put Jackson County in good financial standing. There is no “defund the police” and totally supports all of our law enforcement to provide us with a safe area to live in. If you want someone that protects the interest of Jackson County with experience, knowledge and common sense, vote for Rick Dyer. Richard and Karen Griffin Medford
