There are 3 different lamps in an eight-block area. Come on MURA, make up your mind and spend some money to have them look alike. Visitors must think we can never make up our mind ... and like-models do stay in production ... sheesh! -- Jim D., Eagle Point You are an astute observer, Jim, but we want to know how you really feel about this issue. There are indeed three styles of streetlights in downtown Medford. According to the urban renewal agency, there are the original black lights up and down Main Street, which are not only not night-sky friendly (cities are striving to reduce upward lighting these days so the stars are still visible) but they're simply not made any more. MURA has installed two styles of street lights: There are the rounded antiqued green lights near the new Central Library and Rogue Community College, and then there are the black "acorn" shaped lights, such as those installed along Holly Street near Eighth Street. After the antiqued green lights went in, concern was raised by Sue Densmore on the MURA board at the time that they were too cutesy and gingerbread for Medford, which has more of a railroad/depot theme downtown. After several meetings, the black acorn lights were chosen for the remainder of the streetscape projects. Now, Jim, how do you feel about our wide and varied collection of potholes in Medford?
