EXPO CENTER Compton Arena renamed Seven Feathers Event Center Comment By Damian Mann Mail Tribune MailTribune.com By Damian Mann Mail Tribune Posted Jul. 3, 2015 at 3:48 PM By Damian Mann Mail Tribune Posted Jul. 3, 2015 at 3:48 PM » Social News The Compton Arena at the Jackson County Expo has been renamed “Seven Feathers Event Center” under a three-year agreement with the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians. “They’re going to sponsor the building,” said Chris Smith, president of the Jackson County Fair Board. “It’s a great arrangement to have with them.” The Cow Creek will give the Expo $80,000 each year for naming rights on the arena. Smith said the signs went up on July 1 with the new name. The 57,000-square-foot arena has stadium seating and a dirt floor and has been the venue for rodeos, concerts, horse and dog events, motor sports and more. For years, the Cow Creek tribe has been involved with the Expo and has supported events. The extra dollars are welcome news for the Expo, which has struggled financially. In the future, Smith said, he hopes to announce a new name for the amphitheater, which was previously known as the Lithia Motors Amphitheater under a 10-year contract that expired June 30. The agreement with the Cow Creek comes just before the annual fair that runs July 22-26. The Cow Creek had earlier agreed to promote some of the concerts. Headline acts this year at the amphitheater are Theory of a Deadman on July 23, 38 Special on July 24 and Brett Eldredge on July 25. Other musical acts will be available during the fair, offering everything from punk to funk and rock to country. The Cow Creek tribe has expanded its community outreach in recent years. Recently the tribe agreed to contribute $25,000 of the $50,000 cost of a project to paint murals on the Interstate 5 pillars in Hawthorne Park.
