Edgar Frutchey III Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Jan. 7, 2015 at 2:00 AM Posted Jan. 7, 2015 at 2:00 AM » Social News Edgar Frutchey III passed away December 18, 2014. He was 89 years old. A memorial service was held December 22, 2014 at the Jacksonville Presbyterian Church followed by interment of his ashes at the Jacksonville Cemetery. Ed was born May 6, 1925 in Philadelphia to Edgar and Helen Frutchey and was raised in Langhorne, Pa. along with his two brothers. After high school he worked for the Rohm and Haas Company in their chemical lab until he joined the U.S. Army to fight in World War II, where he led an anti-aircraft crew. He continued to serve in the Army for six years. In 1950, he married his wife, Mary, and together they raised four children, Eddie, Tom, Karen, and Wendy. Ed continued to work for Rohm and Haas and became a very successful technical salesman because of his product knowledge, his love of people, and great sense of humor. He managed large accounts for the automobile and aircraft industries and his orders of Plexiglas arrived by the box-car load! During his career, he moved from Philadelphia to Michigan, California and then to Oregon where he later retired. He was involved for many years with the Jacksonville Presbyterian Church as a member and elder, and with the Jacksonville Rotary, serving as their secretary, treasurer, and president. He loved Jacksonville and enjoyed helping with the Boosters Club. His hobbies included horseback riding, fishing, golf, listening to music, and remodeling houses with his wife. He also helped Mary in her interior design business and became her primary caregiver when she became ill until her passing in 2010. In later years, he loved visiting with friends and family, traveling, listening to music, and watching his favorite westerns. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and by his eldest son, Edgar Frutchey IV. He is survived by his son, Tom Frutchey (wife, Cathy); and daughters, Karen Fronek (husband, Craig) and Wendy Frutchey; and daughter-in-law, Marybeth Frutchey, along with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ed loved being with people and making them smile. His long life was still too short for those he left behind. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend and will be deeply missed.
