The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is searching for two young girls and their mother, who have been missing since Tuesday. A family member reported Tanda Christiansen, 28, and her 6- and 7-year-old daughters missing at 9:08 p.m. Tuesday, according to a sheriff’s department news release. The three reportedly walked away from that family member’s home, located in the 2500 block of Holcomb Springs Road, where they also live, at about 10 a.m. “The family became concerned when they didn’t return home after dark,” the news release said. “Additionally, Christiansen has recently exhibited signs of mental illness.” During the interim between when Christiansen reportedly walked away from the home and the family member reporting them missing, there may have been one possible sighting. Sheriff’s deputies received a call for a welfare check from a resident on Pelton Lane, which forks to the northeast of Holcomb Springs Road. The three were last seen about a half mile away from Christiansen’s home. The requested welfare check was for a woman and two girls, whom the Pelton Lane resident reportedly had found “wandering on her property,” the release said. The resident gave them a ride to the end of the driveway. They were last seen at about 1 p.m. walking on Pelton Lane toward Ramsey Road. The three females “were barefoot and reportedly carried some water with them,” the release said. Deputies checked the area but could not find anyone. They continue to search with search and rescue personnel. Christiansen is described as white, about 5-feet-7 and about 180 pounds. She has brown hair dyed blue or purple, and has brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue pants. The 7-year-old girl has light brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a turquoise shirt. The 6-year-old has dark brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a pink shirt and shorts. People living in the area are asked to check their property and any outbuildings.
