Fisherman Reported Missing Found Deceased Updated: Jul 17, 2022 10:27 AM A A Upper Rogue area resident Kim Smith, reported missing by family on Friday when he failed to return home from a fishing trip in the Prospect/Rogue River Gorge area, was found deceased on Sunday morning. Smith’s daughter, Tami Serrano-Smith, reported that her father had been found just before 10 a.m. with his dog, a black lab named Jessie, just 50 feet away. Smith, the owner of a local sandblasting company and a local youth coach, was reportedly last seen by family members at 3:15 a.m. on Friday, July 15 with his truck found later that day at the Mill Creek Falls parking lot. Jackson County Sheriff’s officials, in addition to friends and family searched for Smith and his dog, a black lab named Jessie, on Friday and Saturday. Search efforts were called off Saturday night. Search efforts resumed on Sunday morning with search crews quickly locating Smith’s remains. Jackson County Sheriff’s Department officials were still on scene early Sunday and not immediately available for comment.
