She was 96. Isabel was born in Glasgow, Scotland April 22, 1918. She emigrated to Canada at the age of one year with her family. She was raised on Vancouver Island in the town of Duncan. She moved to San Diego in 1954, and within a few years moved to the suburbs of Los Angeles. She was employed by See's Candies as a supervisor for many years and would often delight her grandchildren with free samples of the latest confections. She and her husband retired to Gold Hill, Ore. in 1974 and subsequently settled in Medford two years later. Isabel enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning, and her Scottish shortbread and scones were famous among her family and friends. She also took great pride and pleasure in her beautiful and bountiful vegetable garden. Her family would like to thank the management, staff, and her friends at Royal Oak Retirement Center for their care, concern, and friendship for Isabel. She liked living there very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kuester Peterson and son, David L. Phillips. She is survived by grandson, Michael Phillips; granddaughter, Karen (Phillips) Mathieson; and great-grandchildren, Kristi Vail, Brandon Vail, Trevor Phillips, and Jared Phillips. She was Auntie Isa to many nieces and nephews on Vancouver Island and will be missed. A private family remembrance will be held this spring in Duncan, Vancouver Island, B.C.
