Mail Tribune News - Stop signs erected at Lozier-Stewart crossing
Document text
Stop signs erected at Lozier-Stewart crossing Jackson County road crews are installing stop signs at the three-way intersection of Lozier Lane and Stewart Avenue just south of Medford. The stop signs are expected to be finished by Monday, said Eric Niemeyer, the county traffic engineer. The intersection was the site of a fatal accident in March, but Niemeyer said the decision to add the signs was prompted by traffic backing up on Lozier. "We did some in-the-field delay studies that showed a pretty significant delay trying to get onto Stewart from Lozier," Niemeyer said. The crews are also installing flashing lights to alert motorists to the new stop signs on Stewart. Niemeyer said the intersection is scheduled to get a traffic light when the land south of Lozier becomes developed. Mail Tribune Copyright The Mail Tribune 1999, Medford, Oregon USA
