Rev. Libby Lane became the eighth bishop of Stockport during a service held at York Minster. During the ceremony, led by Archbishop John Sentamu, one congregant voiced his disapproval of allowing women to serve as bishops. Although the church has had female priests since 1994, it wasn’t until last November that it voted to allow for female bishops. SURVEY SAYS According to a new Pew Research Center poll, Pope Francis is a popular figure with people all over the world. The pope is seen favorably by 60 percent of respondents from 43 different countries. Only 11 percent of poll-takers have a negative view of the pope, while the remaining respondents, 28 percent, didn’t have an opinion either way. The pope’s highest rating comes from Europe, where 84 percent of poll participants had a positive view of him.
