Aaron Leon Berry attacked the woman Wednesday night, allegedly punching her after burning her with the pan, Rogue River police reported. Berry attempted to burn the house down Wednesday evening by setting three separate fires, which were put out by the victim, police said. Police also received information that Berry set a fire in the woods near town earlier in the week, but witnesses put it out. Officers arrested Berry around 9:35 a.m. Thursday after catching him walking into the woods north of town with packed bags. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on felony charges of attempted first-degree arson and two counts of fourth-degree assault, as well as misdemeanor charges of first-degree harassment and third-degree criminal mischief. He's being held on $24,000 bail, jail records show. Jackson County Circuit Court records show Berry is already facing charges of menacing, second- and third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree disorderly conduct and harassment stemming from a June 30 incident in which he allegedly attacked a member of his household with a leaf blower and a kitchen fork.
