Marvin Leo "Bud" Gettling Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Jan. 14, 2015 @ 2:00 am Posted Jan. 14, 2015 @ 2:00 am » Social News Marvin Leo "Bud" Gettling, 89, of Ashland, Ore. passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Caring Hearts Foster Home in Phoenix, Ore. Mr. Gettling was born November 29, 1925 in Talent, Ore. to Ed and Belle (Williams) Gettling. On August 28, 1949 in Ashland, Ore. he married the former Mary Lou Hahn. During the Korean War he served in the U. S. Army. He was a fifth grade teacher at Walker and Bellview Schools in Ashland. He was a member of the Ashland Elks Lodge #944, the Ashland Lions Club, Small Woodland Owners, and the Buckles & Bows Square Dancers. He was an outdoorsman and avid tree enthusiast, enjoyed rock hounding, and Raindance Tour Travel. His survivors include son, Dan Gettling and wife, Debbie; daughter, Diana Stone and husband, Craig; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother, Chuck Gettling and wife Bev; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou on January 17, 2009, and two brothers. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, 1811 Ashland Street, Ashland, Ore. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland, Ore. Those who wish may make scholarship contributions to the Southern Oregon University Foundation, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, Ore. 97520.
