Two suspects arrested in Bear Creek Park vandalism Medford police credited information from a citizen with helping them make two arrests Monday in connection with extensive vandalism Dec. 9 in Bear Creek Park. Both were arrested on charges of first-degree criminal mischief. Andrew Lee Patterson, 19, of 3303 Snowy Butte Road, Central Point, was lodged on $5,000 bail at Jackson County Jail. A 17-year-old male from Medford was released to his parents and referred to the Jackson County Juvenile Department. Police Lt. Tim George said damage was still being tallied by the Medford Parks Department but was expected to exceed $10,000. Among the park's damaged features were trees cut in half, lampposts toppled to the ground, toilets and sinks shattered and a garden ripped up. Volunteers had put in much of the effort to improve the park. George said detectives were aided by information from a citizen after news accounts about the vandalism.
