Ashland mother released from hospital Young son upgraded to serious condition A woman who was hit by a car while crossing a highway in Ashland has been released from a hospital, but her baby was still in serious condition Thursday. Celena Callison was discharged from Rogue Valley Medical Center on Wednesday. Lairomy Nesbitt, her 7-month-old son, was upgraded from critical to serious condition at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, a nursing supervisor said. The accident last Friday night occurred while Callison was pushing Lairomy in a baby stroller across Highway 66 near Goodtimes Family Food and Fun Center in Ashland. They were struck by a 1995 Honda Accord that was headed west on the highway. The car was driven by Walter P. Hoffman, 79, of Ashland. No charges have been filed in the case. A community fund has been set up to help Callison, who suffers from cerebral palsy, and her family. The Lutheran Brotherhood Local Branch No. 8357 has announced it will match donations to the family. The fraternal club will match two dollars for every $1 collected up to $1,000. So, if $1,000 is donated, the Lutheran Brotherhood will contribute $2,000.
