Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend April 13, 2005 Lawson third, Hiler fourth for Raiders in multi-event championship KIRKLAND, Wash. — Southern Oregon’s Brittany Lawson and Mark Hiler mustered top-four finishes at the Cascade Conference Multi-Event Championship Tuesday. Lawson, a North Medford High graduate, placed third in the heptathlon with 3,778 points after going 14-9¼ in the long jump, posting an 88-5 javelin throw and clocking 2:42 in the 800 on the second and final day of action. Rachel Hinze place sixth with 3,244 points, and Danielle Duda was seventh overall at 3,137. Hiler, a Grants Pass native, moved up one spot for a fourth-place finish on Day 2 in the decathlon with 4,972 points. "For their first heptathlon and decathlon Brittany and Mark should be pleased," Raider coach Mike Jones said. "I know they would have liked to have done better, but that’s athletics, and any time you compete, hopefully you learn something from it and you are motivated for your next competition." Lawson and Hinze scored seven team points for the upcoming Cascade Conference Track & Field Championships, while Hiler scored four for the men’s team.
