5 seniors chosen for all-star hoops game By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Jun 16, 2022 12:21 PM A A Local Briefs Five Southern Oregon boys basketball players have been selected to compete at the Class 6A and 5A State vs. Metro all-star series at 6:15 p.m. Saturday at Wilsonville High School. Recently graduated seniors Hawthorn Lapierre of Ashland, Tate Broesder of Crater, Bryce Dyer of North Medford and South Medford’s Junior Sleezer and Devon Malcolm were chosen to help represent the State all-stars. Silverton’s Nick McWilliams will serve as head coach in the 49th annual event. Lapierre averaged 17.7 points and 7.5 rebounds this past season for the Grizzlies, while Broesder chipped in with 11.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for the Comets. Dyer contributed 12.6 points, 11.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game for the Black Tornado, with Sleezer (13.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists) and Malcolm (15.7 points, 8.6 rebounds) powering the Panthers. South boys basketball camp set Monday-Friday South Medford will be hosting a boys basketball camp Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. for players entering grades 3-8 in the South Medford High gymnasium. Cost of the camp is $100 and includes a T-shirt, with opportunities to earn daily and weekly awards. Campers are asked to bring a sack lunch, with a drink provided.
