Swimmers claim firsts in state meet ASHLAND -- Medford's Superior Aquatic girls' swim team finished first this weekend at the Speedo Short Course 10-and-Under Championships at the Southern Oregon University pool. Jamie Buckley, Brittany Miller and Krystle Haugen captured gold medals at the 39-team event to help Superior Aquatics to first place with 738 points. Tualatin Hills Swim Club took second with 645 points and Lake Oswego Swim Club third with 432. Buckley led the barrage of golds with four, while Miller bagged three and Haugen one. Additionally, Superior Aquatic relay teams took firsts in the 8-under 100 medley, 100 freestyle and the 10-under 200 medley and 200 freestyle. At the 11-14-year-old Oregon State Swimming Championships in Lake Oswego, Superior Aquatics placed 10th out of 45 teams. Dairian Wallis, 11, had four seconds for Superior, while Tolga Tokman took one. Tokman also finished third in two events while Kayla Haugen took one bronze. 10-UNDER TEAM RESULTS 1, Superior Aquatics 738; 2, Tualatin Hills 645; 3, Lake Oswego Swim Club 432. Krystle Haugen -- first-place finish; 200 freestyle, 2:18.02.
