Gold Hill man electrocuted PROSPECT -- A man was electrocuted Monday when he attempted to cut a tree that fell onto a power line. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department identified the victim as Brian Steven Spilka, 45, of 5466 Sardine Creek Road, Gold Hill. Low Rider Reforestation workers were clearing slash and preparing the area for reforestation near Ulrich Road when the accident occurred in the early afternoon. Workers attempted to revive Spilka until he was pronounced dead at the scene. Also responding were Mercy Flights ambulance and the Shady Cove Fire Protection District.
